As Vice-President Research, Professor Grant Stanley has executive oversight and responsibility for shaping and implementing CQUniversity's vision for research excellence and innovation.

The Vice-President, Research directs the University’s research agenda, guiding the organisation and its researchers realise innovation goals and create impact within the communities and industries they serve. The role has a special focus on elevating CQUniversity’s reputation and global standing through research-related strategic planning, capacity-building, quality assurance, evaluation, and engagement.

Research Division

The Research Division ensures CQUniversity meets all regulatory and reporting requirements and remains responsive to changes in the broader research and higher education sectors.

About Professor Grant Stanley

Professor Grant Stanley joined CQUniversity in 2010 as Dean of Medical and Applied Sciences and now serves as the Vice-President, Research. He brings deep expertise in applied microbiology and biochemical engineering, with a particular focus on sustainable energy solutions such as second-generation bioethanol.

Professor Stanley holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Melbourne and has led several research projects in microbial metabolism, fermentation systems, bioreactor design and bioremediation. Over his career, he has authored more than 110 publications, holds an international patent, has secured multiple Category 1 research grants, and supervised 16 PhD students to completion.

A respected leader in the research community, he has served on the organising committees of several national and international conferences. He also chairs the Regional University Network DVCR Committee and represents CQUniversity on the Australian University Board of Trustees.
