About Us

The Indigenous Engagement Division (IED) plays a central and influential role within the University, providing strategic leadership and direction on education, employment, engagement, and research related to Australian First Nations peoples, stakeholders, and communities. Led by Professor Adrian Miller, Vice-President Indigenous Engagement and BMA Chair in Indigenous Engagement, the IED team consists of highly skilled professional and research staff dedicated to advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander matters.

The IED is committed to guiding the University’s approach to higher education, vocational training, employment, research, and stakeholder engagement, while playing a pivotal role in strategy and policy development that impacts First Nations peoples. Our office fosters collaborative, mutually beneficial interactions by engaging with community partners to build capacity, advocate for First Nations contributions, and develop opportunities for beneficial research and education.

Driven by the principles of CQUniversity’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), the IED works to instil RAP values across both internal and external communities, transforming current culture and creating new opportunities. Through innovation and leadership, we shape contemporary Australian culture while safeguarding and honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural knowledge and values.
